Coffee: All you need to know about the most consumed drink!

Coffee without sugar or dairy- I can picture it now- alarm goes off, eyes half closed and you're creeping over to the kitchen to turn on the coffee machine. Not only is Coffee one of the worst things that you could possibly drink first thing in the morning, on top of that the majority of Americans add sugar and some form of dairy product to it. I’m not going to go on and on about why coffee is no good for you, I’ll save that for another informative blog. What I’m really here to tell you is that there are so many different options other than the standard American “milk and sugar please.”

Sweeteners: the more mild and all natural ones include cinnamon, pumpkin, vanilla and you could find all of these organic powders in your local health food store or obviously order on Amazon. Cinnamon in particular is so interesting- rather than increase your blood sugar like most other sweeteners- cinnamon -wait for it, REDUCES blood sugar. Give it a try. But now what about how to make up for the creaminess of using milk? So many people have made changes to replace regular milk with almond milk or coconut milk but quite frankly It's very difficult to find brands that are less processed and more natural. Therefore what ends up happening is we buy products that are loaded with sugar and other ingredients which again defeat the purpose of your intentional healthy choice. Try instead of almond milk or coconut milk, coconut oil or brain octane oil. Coffee is extremely acidic and acid in the body is a breeding ground for disease. Coconut oil does wonders for our brain power, memory and concentration... but thats not the only health benefits packed into it- it is also super alkaline. It may seem unusual to use oil in your coffee but when you shake it up or blend it correctly the results are sweet and creamy goodness. For those of you that drink cold coffee, I would recommend adding a scoop of collagen to your coffee with coconut oil, blend it up really well and top it off with some ice. If you can’t help but drink coffee in the morning, try to figure out a way to make the best of it. Thanks goody-goodies
